The center of the party world in Siem Reap, Cambodia is on Pub Street and between now and February 18, 2018, visitors will have a great chance to join the celebration.
While Pub Street is usually the place for foreigners in Cambodia (especially Angkor Wat Bar) there is one exception. Every Western New Year’s Eve they have a Countdown on Pub Street. It has become a huge Cambodian party as thousands of people from Phnom Penh take the bus to Siem Reap.

And just 5 week’s later, another new year will be celebrated. Chinese New Year in Cambodia is two weeks of celebrations, with the actual day in 2018 being February 16th. In Cambodia, nearly one million Cambodians of Chinese heritage actively celebrate the festival in the tradition of their ancestors. Although not one of the official holidays in Cambodia it is still one of the most celebrated events of the year and sees an estimated 60% of the Cambodian population partaking in the festivities.
Chinese New Year is all about family so many people will return to their birthplace in the countryside. But all over Siem Reap, and especially on Pub Street, visitors will experience the Year of the Dog among thousands from all over the world.
